Get to know your breasts

HEMA and Pink Ribbon urge you to be breast aware, to be alert, and to contact your doctor if you notice any changes in them.

Amsterdam, 30 August 2021 - HEMA and Pink Ribbon are joining forces to create extra awareness about self-examination by providing all bras in the assortment with an information tag. Stop and think about your breasts more often. Sometimes you find them too small, sometimes too big. At other times, they are so sensitive that it hurts. Sometimes they are more beautiful in the morning than in the evening, or vice versa. Other times they get in the way when the strap of your bag slips right between them and separates them. You don’t think about them often, they’re just there: your breasts.

Why does HEMA think it’s important to add this tag? Because one in seven women will get breast cancer. Your breasts will change with you throughout your life. This is normal and happens gradually. However, it’s better to notice certain changes in time. This way your breasts can get the care they deserve. HEMA therefore wants to encourage everyone to do regular breast self-examinations in collaboration with Pink Ribbon. This way you will get to know your breasts and recognise any changes in time.



Why examine your breasts yourself
Although survival rates have increased significantly in recent decades, more than 3,000 people still die from breast cancer every year. Detecting and diagnosing the disease as early as possible is important in order to fight it as effectively as possible. Self-examination can help. Not all women are familiar with breast self-examination and how to do it. That’s why HEMA will do everything in its power this autumn to generate awareness among women.

Roze tags
The lingerie department has hit the ground running and come up with something to be proud of. Starting on 23 August, HEMA bras will have a pink tag. This tag will contain a plea to examine your breasts yourself. The tag will also refer to http://www.hema.nl/borstonderzoek for more information.
